Finally, a roof over our heads :-)

Just about a year since we started building this modest residence in our farm, we have managed to complete the roof work. We had to go through a lot of hiccups - delays, the first contractor messing it up badly, finding another contractor to complete the work, starting the truss work all over again, and so on.

This is how it looks like now:

The roof consists of a truss, then a layer of GI sheets (recycled from old ships), then the purlins and finally the mangalore tiles.

The truss over the gable walls:

The purlins were fixed over the truss channels just to lock the channels in place. The purlins would come off for laying the sheets.

After the GI sheets were fixed, the purlins were then fixed to the truss channels with the GI sheets sandwiched.

The welder who worked very hard to finally complete the roof work seen at work on the roof.

The tile laying in progress. Almost everyone at the site chipped in for the tile laying.

Finally, what looks like a roof...
